Tredyffrin voters to decide on home rule charter changes

Published Friday, October 30, 2026

Tredyffrin Township voters will decide on Nov. 3 whether to approve 40 amendments to the township’s home rule charter, which was approved in 1974 and took effect in 1976. The proposed update would modernize outdated language, revise anti-discrimination provisions, streamline the annual budget and contract approval processes, clarify zoning notification requirements, eliminate residency requirements for the township manager and police superintendent, and require meeting agendas to be posted at least 24 hours in advance. It would also clarify rules for supervisors attending meetings virtually and codify free access to meeting minutes. The amendments are presented as a single ballot question, meaning voters must approve or reject the entire package rather than consider individual changes. Township officials say the revisions would improve efficiency and reflect current practices. Read the full notice relating to the referendum on the township website.
