Toll Brothers faces pushback on proposed 237-unit community

Published Friday, October 9, 2026

Toll Brothers’ proposal to build a 237-unit, age-restricted community in West Brandywine Township has met opposition from residents during several conditional use hearings. The development would include 163 single-family homes and 74 twin units across 116 acres between Hibernia and Manor roads. Township Manager Noah Stribrny said the Toll project is generating the most public engagement he's seen for a proposal. Some nearby residents have formed a limited liability corporation with attorney representation to voice concerns about the plan, and about 100 residents packed a middle school auditorium for a recent hearing. Residents have raised concerns about the 55-and-over community lacking proximity to a medical center after the 2022 closure of Brandywine Hospital, as well as the project's potential impact on public water and traffic, and its location near an abundance of age-restricted projects already in the works in the township, according to Stribrny.
