Radnor Township commissioners have approved the introduction of an ordinance paving the way for the township to purchase 405 W. Wayne Ave. The building had functioned as a veterinarian’s office. The township’s plan is to purchase the building then rent it to the county, since Delaware County pays for the district courts. Township officials estimated the purchase price would be made up over the next decade through rent from the county. For about the past 15 years, Radnor residents and police had to travel out to the far edge of Newtown Square on West Chester Pike to reach their local district court. Before 2013, Radnor had two district courts. One operated in Marple Township, and the other was located off Sugartown Road, just inside Radnor Township. The county relocated both courts to their present site at 4655 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square. A few years ago the courts were realigned, and Radnor got its own district court. But despite the court no longer including Newtown Township, it remained at the West Chester Pike location.
