Taxes increase in Central Bucks

Published Friday, June 28, 2024

The Central Bucks School Board adopted the 2024-2025 school year budget that includes a 5.3% tax increase, the most allowed by Pennsylvania Act 1. A homeowner with a home assessed at the district average of $40,000 will see an annual tax increase of $278. The tax increase is the fourth consecutive hike for the district — and the largest in those four years. Prior to the four-year run of tax hikes, Central Bucks had not increased taxes in six years. School directors gave a variety of reasons for the tax increases, including salaries, building renovations and repairs, a district realignment project, implementation of full-day kindergarten in 2025, and a long-brewing lawsuit that contends the district underpaid hundreds of female teachers.
