Upper Providence Township supervisors will consider a zoning amendment to further define “open space residential community development” at a special meeting on Wednesday, May 29, at 6 p.m. at the township building, 1286 Black Rock Road, Phoenixville. The following evening, Thursday, May 30, at 6 p.m. the supervisors will hold a conditional use hearing to consider the request of Royersford Holdings LLC to permit a residential care facility for senior citizens consisting of 1,203 dwelling units, including single-family detached, single-family attached, apartments and senior apartments. Upper Providence Township officials voted in April on an alternative proposal for the development of the 176 acres of land surrounding the Parkhouse nursing facility. The developer revived its plan for 1,203 units — a plan that conforms to the applicable zoning overlay — in January after another compromise ordinance was voted down by supervisors last November.
