Pennsylvania has made two “Top 10” lists of states from which more people move out of than move to. Pennsylvania landed on both the United Van Lines list (No. 5 in 2022) and a list published by Forbes (No. 4 in 2022). The United Van Lines study uses its own metrics and shows that employment is the top reason for leaving Pennsylvania. The Forbes list relies on address changes from the United States Postal Service. Pennsylvania has lost about 18,000 households since the pandemic began. Read more here.
