Lower Makefield supervisors recently delayed a decision on a developer’s plans to build six new homes at Buck Creek Drive and Newtown-Yardley and Creamery roads. The project involves demolishing two existing houses and putting up two new dwellings in their place, constructing four other new houses and preserving an old stone farmhouse. Supervisors tabled a vote on the final major subdivision approval for the project, citing concerns with possible stormwater management implications related to a dam and two ponds on the site. John VanLuvanee, attorney for the applicant, expressed frustration that the dam was brought up for the first time as an issue but agreed to the extension of time to vote on the project. The extension pushes the vote to no later than Sept. 30. Supervisors said they needed to make sure everything possible was being done on every project to properly control water runoff. Recent storms caused flooding and severe damage to the Maplevale and Meadow Drive neighborhoods in Lower Makefield, and led to seven deaths in neighboring Upper Makefield.
