Apartment construction continues at Oxford Valley Mall

About 600 upscale apartments are under construction at Oxford Valley Mall in Middletown. The first of two large apartment buildings is taking shape on a 20-acre plot of land that was a mall parking lot built 50 years ago. The “Oxford Valley Mall Apartments” are being built by developer CornerstoneTracy, who reports on its website that the first 391 apartments are on track to be completed by March 2025. The units are defined as “Class A” apartments — a term for the most expensive residential units that have great locations and are outfitted with luxuries and amenities not found in more affordable places. Oxford Valley Apartments will have a shuttle to the nearby Woodbourne train station, a swimming pool and fitness center, and a wrap-around parking garage. The mall apartments will have studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom units, each with a “gourmet kitchen” and some with balconies. Simon Properties, which owns Oxford Valley Mall, hopes the apartment project will revive the mall, built in 1973 and once one of the largest in the United States.
