Sewer Lateral Ordinance

In July of 2022, the township changed its ordinance to the Private Sewer Lateral Inspection Ordinance, this is required upon every property transfer for residential properties connected to the sewer system in the township.  Commercial and private sewer systems are going to be televised every 10 years with communication to the property owners regarding the process and expectations.  The township requires the current owner/realtor of the property to have their lateral televised by a certified plumber or contractor.

Closing Certificate Requests

The township will process the request upon completion and approval of the Sewer Lateral Inspection.  This form can be printed and submitted to the township with payment via mail or in person Utility Certificate Request PDF.

Uniform Construction Code (UCC):  Many local governments have adopted use and occupancy ordinances. Increasingly, code officials are citing non-permitted uses and or structures during their inspections. The following lists the enforcement policies as they relate to a residential resale inspection.   • Non-permitted decks that have been installed: Owner must remove or get a permit and ensure structure is compliant with codes
  • Non-permitted finished basements: Owner must remove or get a permit and ensure structure is compliant with codes
  • Non-permitted fences, sheds, or other structures: Owner must remove or get a permit and ensure structure is compliant with codes
  • We have not separately adopted NFPA standard 211, Chapters 13 &/or 14, which regulate fireplace and heater chimney maintenance.

Property Maintenance Requirements:

Lower Pottsgrove Township adopted Ordinance 296 that allows the township to notify residential property owners to install or repair sidewalks within the township at any time.
