LOWER CHICHESTER TOWNSHIP PUBLIC NOTICE Notice is hereby given that The Board of Commissioners of Lower Chichester Township Linwood, Delaware County, PA will conduct a public meeting to receive public comment on the following Ordinance on Monday, February 16, 2015, at 7:30 P.M., at the Township Building, 1410 Market Street, Linwood, PA 19061. The proposed Ordinance requires compliance with standards that are stricter than the Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code in the following ways: 1. It provides for the installation of automatic sprinkler systems applicable to certain structures and under certain conditions; providing definitions; applicability; severability; and, penalties; 2. The standards adopted herein covering automatic sprinkler systems apply to newly constructed buildings and to existing buildings and supersede any and all provisions and requirements found in the International Building Code, Chapters 9 and 34, and the International Existing Building Code and the International Residential Code. (a) Applicability: This subsection (a) shall apply to two-family and multi-family residential structures, rental units, room rentals, commercial, industrial, educational and religious occupancies of one or more stories in height Definitions are provided. 3. Compliance requirements: (a) Buildings and/or structures hereinafter constructed shall be equipped with an approved automatic sprinkler system; (b) Plans; (c) Vacant or unoccupied buildings (d) Buildings/and or structures renovated; (e) All buildings, structures, and dwellings that are converted from single family owner occupied dwellings to be single, multiple, or Two-Family rental units or where the number of living units is increased by one or more units shall conform to the provisions of this subsection (a); (f) Conversions from commercial or industrial occupancies to residential, educational, or religious occupancies; and, (g) All present buildings; structures, and dwellings that are non-owner occupied and which are to remain same when that building, structure, dwelling is sold or transferred shall conform to the provisions of this section; 4. Combination Systems allowed. 5. Installation of system. 6. Maintenance of system. 7. Testing of system. 8. Enforcement. 9. No liability of Township. 10. Violations and penalties. 11. Severability. At the conclusion of the public hearing and during the regular Township Commissioners’; meeting, the Board of Commissioners may consider the adoption of the Ordinance. Take notice that this is a synopsis and a full text of the Ordinance is available for inspection at the Township Building during regular business hours of 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. A copy is also at the Law Library at Delaware County Courthouse, Media, PA; and, this newspaper.
